Learn how to drive the big rigs in just six weeks for 1/3 the normal cost, thanks to the new Workforce Credentials Grant and special non-credit financial aid available to qualifying Virginia residents! Truck drivers earn a median national salary of $41,340, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

NOTE: Currently, DCC is partnering with Southside Community College to offer classes in South Boston.
We anticipate being able to offer classes in Danville later in Fall 2017.

Upcoming classes (held all day Monday through Thursday in South Boston):

  • Sept. 18 - Oct. 26

  • Nov. 13 - Dec. 21

A prospective student must meet the following criteria and provide the following one week prior to the start of class:

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Have a valid Virginia driver's license

  • Provide the school with a copy of your driving record*

  • Pass a D.O.T. physical exam

  • Pass a drug test and permit to being randomly tested for drugs and alcohol during the program

  • Must have CDL-A learner's permit (available at your local DMV)

*Trucking companies are interested only in drivers with good driving records. Convictions for DUI, reckless driving, and too many speeding tickets are unacceptable. While the college does not require this, the motor carrier will run a criminal background check on all prospective employees. Conviction of theft or use of drugs will probably prevent your being hired by a trucking company.
