Industrial Maintenance Training

INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION TRAINING (Non-Credit 700 hours)

Danville Community College offers entry level NCCER Industrial Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation training program for technicians in every industry that uses machinery - from automotive assembly plants to food processing plants.

Students will learn to repair and maintain electrical instruments and equipment. They will also install and dismantle equipment, set calibration and ensure quality control.

NCCER’s four-level curriculum covers such topics as Fasteners and Anchors, Process Mathematics, and Pneumatic Controls.

After completing this program as a journey level Industrial Maintenance E&I technician students will:

· Have a thorough knowledge of basic electrical/electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical fundamentals.

· Have a working knowledge of safety and electrical hazards.

· Have a knowledge of mechanical/electrical isolation of stored energy.

· Identify tools, equipment and best practices for performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance.

· Interpret drawings, specification, and other resource documents.

· Have a thorough knowledge of both process and craft-related mathematics.

· Maintain, repair, and install electrical and instrumentation system components.

· Be familiar with networks and process control systems.

This intensive hands-on curriculum puts students in the lab where skilled instructors create simulations and production environments to train students with first hand knowledge of the future applications of their skills.

The program consists of 700 hours of training over 16 weeks, Monday through Friday at the DCC Regional Center for Technical Training (RCATT) located in Danville, Virginia on Slayton Avenue.
