Dr. Cornelius Johnson
President
Dr. Cornelius Johnson serves as President of Danville Community College, a role he assumed permanently after initially being appointed Interim President on December 1, 2024. He stepped into the interim role after the departure of Dr. Jerry Wallace and was later selected to lead the college on a permanent basis in recognition of his effective leadership and dedication to student success.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Johnson served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services at DCC since 2021. His earlier experience includes serving as Dean of Student Success at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas, as well as Project Coordinator for Student Success, Assistant Dean, Interim Dean of Student Development, and Academic Advisor at Lone Star College in Tomball, Texas. He has also held roles in program management and student advising, and has taught as a lecturer at the University of Houston, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Indiana State University.
Dr. Johnson holds an associate degree from Seattle Central Community College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, a master’s degree from Indiana State University, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is also a graduate of the Future Presidents Institute through the American Association of Community Colleges.
