Danville, VA – The Danville Community College Educational Foundation (DCCEF) Board of Directors is proud to announce the remarkable achievement of Dr. Shannon Hair, who recently successfully completed his Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northcentral University in San Diego, California. Dr. Hair serves as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement & Development for Danville Community College and Executive Director of the DCC Educational Foundation.
Dr. Hair has been an invaluable asset to Danville Community College since joining in 2010, demonstrating unwavering commitment and leadership in advancing the institution's mission and strategic goals. With his extensive experience and expertise in institutional advancement and development, Dr. Hair has significantly contributed to the college's growth and success.
Serving as Vice President of Institutional Advancement & Development, Dr. Hair has provided executive guidance in strategic planning, financial sustainability, enrollment management, and workforce development. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in spearheading major initiatives, including two successful major gifts campaigns that raised millions of dollars for the college. Under his leadership, the Danville Community College Educational Foundation, which now boasts $20m in total assets, has experienced unprecedented growth securing substantial donations and significantly increasing scholarship awards to support student success. In 2023 alone, The Bostian Endowment ($2.9M) allowed the Foundation to create the college's first Promise Program, which will serve as a last-dollar tuition funding for all eligible scholarship recipients.
Dr. Hair's dedication to program development and college sustainability has led to transformative investments in various academic programs, including Cosmetology, Early Childhood Education, Nursing, HVAC, Graphic Imaging Design, Precision Machining, and many others. Through collaborative efforts with local partners and stakeholders, he has championed initiatives to address student, college, and community needs, such as the establishment of scholarships, funding for the DCC Knights Food Pantry, student support services, and workforce development initiatives. During his tenure, he secured funding for the naming rights for three of the college’s buildings.
In addition to his outstanding professional accomplishments, Dr. Hair is deeply engaged in community service and professional affiliations, reflecting his commitment to excellence and servant leadership. His extensive involvement in civic organizations and professional associations underscores his dedication to fostering positive change and making a difference in the lives of others.
Dr. Hair's recent achievement of his Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership further exemplifies his commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. His dissertation, "Exploring Student Attrition in a Community College Registered Nursing Program. A Qualitative Single Case Study," underscores his dedication to advancing higher education and addressing critical challenges facing students and institutions.
