DCC to Host 2nd Annual ‘All Citizens Job & Resource Fair’ with Area Partners

Danville Community College, in collaboration with Pittsylvania County Community Action, Virginia Career Works, Danville/Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, BrightView, PATHS, Hire Dynamics, and the City of Danville, is set to host a community-wide 'All Citizens Job & Resource Fair' at the Danville Community Market on November 1, 2023, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is open to everyone and all community members who are in need of employment opportunities or resources are encouraged to attend.

Dr. Jerry Wallace, President of Danville Community College, emphasized the significance of community in the DCC mission: "Community is an integral part of our identity and guides all our endeavors. We are committed to facilitating connections between local businesses, industry leaders, and job seekers through community-oriented events and career development efforts."

The 'All Citizens Job & Resource Fair' caters to both job seekers and employers. Local businesses with job openings can reserve a table at the event, where they can interact with potential hires, accept resumes, and share information about available positions.

Barry Mayo, the TARE/CAPE/SCALE-UP program recruiter at DCC and the event coordinator, notes the tremendous interest from job seekers and businesses alike: "We have witnessed an overwhelming response from job seekers and companies with open positions. In addition to employment opportunities, the fair will offer vital information on support services, educational opportunities, and other valuable resources for individuals facing challenges in our community."

Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes to make the most of the event.

Paul Farrar, Director of the TARE/CAPE/SCALE-UP program, elaborates on their mission: "The TARE/CAPE/SCALE-UP program at Danville Community College aims to remove barriers to education. By spearheading this Job and Resource Fair, we are uniting employers and community resources in a single location, enabling our community members to explore the educational and employment opportunities available to them."

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit each booth, engage with employers, and explore available support services.

Dr. Wallace concludes, "If we can host an event that uplifts individuals from challenging circumstances and helps them discover support resources, pursue further education, attain credentials, or secure employment, then we have fulfilled our role as community partners."
