Poet Laureate & Visual Luminary Competition Entry Deadline

Calling All Dreamers, Writers, and Artists! 🌟

Step into the spotlight and let your creativity shine in DCC's Poet Laureate & Visual Luminary Competition! This is your chance to share your voice, your vision, and your interpretation of the theme “I Dream.”

Whether you express yourself through powerful words or striking visuals, we want to see your original work. Selected winners will be recognized for their creativity and talent—don’t miss this opportunity to be heard and seen.

Entry Deadline: January 23, 2026 - Complete the entry form here. 

To be eligible, you must be enrolled at least part-time at Danville Community College in an adult education, workforce credential, certificate, dual enrollment/early college, or degree/transfer program during Summer or Fall 2025, or Spring 2026.

Students entering the Poet Laureate competition must submit three original poems or prose poems, with at least one inspired by the theme “I Dream.” Visual arts applicants must submit one original artwork related to the same theme. Accepted art forms include drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics.

All theme-related work must have been created in 2025 or early 2026 and may not use artificial intelligence. Submissions must be made to the college in your service region. Dual enrollment or early college students under 18 must have parental permission.
