Danville Community College (DCC) has been designated a 2026–2027 Military Friendly® School, earning Silver status for its continued commitment to supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 3,200 schools participated in the 2026–2027 survey cycle, with only a select group earning recognition based on their ability to meet and exceed standards in student retention, graduation, job placement, and support services for military-connected students.
“Earning the Military Friendly® designation is more than a badge of honor; it is a reflection of an institution’s deep-rooted values and strategic commitment to those who served," said Kayla Lopez, Vice President of Memberships, Military Friendly®. "These schools don’t just open doors for veterans and military spouses, they build sustainable pathways for academic success and long-term impact.”
At DCC, military-affiliated students benefit from a range of services designed to ease the transition from military to civilian life, including financial aid guidance, flexible course offerings, and personalized academic and career support.
“This designation reflects our commitment to ensuring that those who have served our country, and their families, have access to the resources they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond,” said Angela Turner, Director of Financial Aid. “We are proud to support our military-connected students with guidance that helps them maximize their benefits and achieve their educational goals.”
Dr. DeAndre Howard, Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Services, emphasized the college’s student-centered approach.
“At Danville Community College, we recognize the unique experiences and strengths that military-connected students bring to our campus,” said Dr. DeAndre Howard. “This recognition affirms our ongoing work to provide flexible, accessible pathways that empower these students to succeed academically and transition confidently into the workforce.”
Dr. Cornelius Johnson, President of Danville Community College, noted the broader impact of the designation.
“Being named a Military Friendly® School is a testament to our institutional values and our dedication to serving those who have served,” said Dr. Cornelius Johnson. “We are honored to play a role in supporting veterans and military families as they pursue new opportunities, strengthen our regional workforce, and continue making meaningful contributions to our community.”
