Danville Community College Sees Increase in Full-Time Enrollment for Fall 2024, Gears Up for Second 8-week Term

Danville Community College (DCC) has announced a significant milestone in its student enrollment, with a full-time enrollment (FTE) increase of 3.38% compared to the previous year.

In the fall of 2023, DCC reported 1,481 full-time enrollees. This semester, that number has risen to 1,531—the first time during President Dr. Jerry Wallace’s tenure that the college has exceeded 1,500 full-time students. The last time DCC exceeded 1500 FTE was in the Fall 2021 semester, landing at 1521. As the College prepares to begin its second 8-week term, the total for Fall 2024 semester has the potential to rise even further.

President Dr. Jerry Wallace celebrated the achievement, stating, "Surpassing 1,500 full-time students is a testament to the strength of our academic programs, the dedication of our faculty and staff, and the trust our community places in us. We are committed to providing accessible, high-quality education that meets the needs of our students and the demands of the workforce. This increase is just the beginning of our continued growth and impact in the region."

The upward trend in full-time enrollment reflects DCC’s strategic efforts to enhance student services, expand academic programs, and foster a supportive learning environment. The increase comes as DCC continues to offer flexible learning options and career-oriented programs that attract a diverse student body.

Dr. Cornelius Johnson, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services, echoed this sentiment, saying, "This growth in enrollment is the result of intentional efforts to create a student-centered experience at DCC. From bolstering student support services to offering more career-relevant programs, we are positioning our students for success both in and out of the classroom. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to serve our students and community."

Second 8-week courses begin on October 16, 2024 and there is still time to register! There are pathways available in:

·        Precision Machining Technology

·        Criminal Justice

·        Automation & Robotics

·        University Transfer

As DCC moves forward, it remains focused on driving student success and supporting the educational and economic development of the region. The college continues to welcome new and returning students to be part of its vibrant learning community.
