DCC Nursing Class of 2026 Achieves 93.75% NCLEX-RN Pass Rate

DANVILLE, Va .- Danville Community College (DCC) is celebrating outstanding results from its May 2026 Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) graduating class, with 93.75% of graduates passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on their first attempt.

All 32 graduates from DCC’s May 2026 nursing cohort have taken the NCLEX-RN at least once. Of those graduates, 30 passed on their first attempt, representing a combined first-attempt pass rate of 93.75%.

Among DCC’s traditional ADN graduates, 25 of 27 students passed on their first attempt, for a 92.59% first-attempt pass rate. The College’s LPN-to-RN students achieved a 100% first-attempt pass rate, with all five graduates successfully passing the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt.

“At Danville Community College, student success ultimately means preparing individuals to step confidently into careers that strengthen our region,” said Dr. Cornelius Johnson, President of Danville Community College. “These exceptional results demonstrate that our nursing graduates are leaving DCC prepared to meet the rigorous standards of their profession and contribute to the healthcare workforce our communities depend upon. I congratulate the Class of 2026 and commend our nursing faculty for the extraordinary work that made this achievement possible.”

The NCLEX-RN is the national licensure examination nursing graduates must successfully complete before becoming licensed registered nurses. First-attempt pass rates are an important measure of how effectively nursing programs prepare graduates to enter professional practice.

“Behind these numbers are 32 graduates who chose a demanding profession and worked diligently to prepare themselves to serve patients, families, and communities,” said Dr. DeAndre Howard, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services at DCC. “A 93.75% first-attempt pass rate demonstrates the strength of our nursing program, but it also reflects the dedication of our faculty to ensuring students leave DCC prepared not simply to pass an examination, but to succeed as skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals.”

DCC’s nursing programs provide students with classroom instruction, laboratory experience, simulation, and hands-on clinical education designed to prepare graduates for the realities of today’s healthcare environment. The College’s traditional ADN pathway prepares students to become registered nurses, while its LPN-to-RN pathway provides licensed practical nurses an opportunity to advance their education and professional credentials.

“These results speak volumes about the commitment of our students and the quality of instruction they receive throughout their time at DCC,” said Dr. Jim Emerson, Nursing Program Director at Danville Community College. “Nursing school demands an extraordinary amount of discipline, perseverance, and clinical preparation. To see 30 of our 32 graduates successfully pass the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt is an accomplishment our students and faculty should be incredibly proud of.”

The results come as DCC continues to strengthen educational pathways that respond directly to regional workforce needs. Nursing remains a critical component of that mission, providing graduates with a pathway into a high-demand profession while helping healthcare providers throughout Southern Virginia build a strong pipeline of qualified nurses.
