As I look back at the conclusion of the Spring 2024 semester and the many incredible moments that come with graduation season, I am more proud than ever to be a part of the Danville Community College family. With the conclusion of my second academic year with the college, and my third just beginning, I want to reflect on some of the highlights from the end of Spring 2024.

In response to delays with the new federal financial aid application process, the Danville Community College Educational Foundation(DCCEF) has announced an extension of the scholarship application deadline to an open deadline. This change aims to provide new and current DCC students with continued access to financial support to reduce tuition costs.

The Danville Community College Educational Foundation (DCCEF) Board of Directors is proud to announce the remarkable achievement of Dr. Shannon Hair, who recently successfully completed his Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northcentral University in San Diego, California. Dr. Hair serves as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement & Development for Danville Community College and Executive Director of the DCC Educational Foundation.

Danville Community College (DCC) was named the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Pinnacle Award, issued by the Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented during the Chamber's annual awards dinner held on May 31, 2024, recognizing DCC's outstanding contributions to the community, excellence in education, and unwavering commitment to economic and workforce development.

Danville Community College (DCC) in partnership with the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC), is excited to announce the launch of its Industrial Maintenance – Electrical & Instrumentation (Levels 1-4) training program in South Boston. This initiative aims to not only equip individuals who are looking to enter Industrial Maintenance field with the necessary skills, but also to up-skill those who are already working in an industrial setting.

Danville Community College (DCC) proudly announces the appointment of Ms. Jessica S. Dalton as the new Vice President of Workforce Services, effective July 1, 2024. Mrs. Dalton brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education and workforce development to her new role.

On May 11, 2024 at 10 a.m., Danville Community College (DCC) hosted its annual commencement exercises at Averett University’s North Campus where 566 candidates for graduation achieved the goal they have been working toward throughout their time at the college.

Danville Community College (DCC) celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday, April 18, as the college hosted its inaugural Career and Technical Education (CTE) Signing Day. With 300 onlookers in the crowd, 52 local high school students gathered at the event to officially sign their intent to pursue a CTE program at DCC during the Fall 2024 semester.

Danville Community College (DCC) has proudly announced that Senator Frank Ruff will be awarded an honorary degree during their upcoming commencement ceremony on May 11, 2024. Senator Ruff's remarkable dedication to education, public service, and his profound impact on the community make him an outstanding recipient of this prestigious recognition.

As I reflect on the recent flurry of activities within our community, I am reminded of the profound impact that collaboration and innovation can have in fostering growth, education, and progress. Each event, meeting, and initiative represents a thread in the vibrant tapestry of our shared journey toward a brighter future for Danville and beyond.
