It has been a month of diverse engagements that underscore the importance of collaboration and the strength of our collective efforts.
DCC Hosts First Annual ‘Elected Officials Day’
Danville Community College (DCC) proudly welcomed elected officials from Pittsylvania County, the City of Danville, and Halifax County to its inaugural Elected Officials Day on Thursday, November 9, 2023. The event welcomed local leaders to engage with the DCC community, gain insights into the college's initiatives, and explore collaborative opportunities to strengthen educational and workforce development in the region.
DCC and SVHEC Forge Partnership to Launch Three New Training Programs in South Boston
In a momentous occasion that heralds a new era of collaboration in education and workforce development, Danville Community College (DCC) and the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) have come together to sign three MOUs establishing three new training programs in South Boston. This exciting partnership is aimed at preparing individuals for promising careers in the healthcare and skilled trades sectors.

Danville Community College Educational Foundation Secures Grant for CDL Class B Training
Danville Community College Educational Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has received a grant in the amount of $233,081 from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission for the expansion of the Commercial Driver's License program. DCC will be adding a Class B (CDL B) training program to meet the needs of business and industry in our area. Examples of jobs that require a Class B license are bus drivers, dump truck drivers, fuel truck drivers, and sanitation truck drivers, to name a few.
DCC Gives Back with Supply Drive for House of Hope Homeless Shelter
The Danville Community College Nursing Club, committed to making a positive impact in their community, recently organized a successful collection drive to support the House of Hope homeless shelter. The Nursing Club collected much-needed supplies and donations to assist the shelter in its mission to provide essential resources and support to the local homeless population.
Averett University and Danville Community College Forge Partnership to Empower Instructional Paraprofessionals in Early Childhood Education
Danville Community College (DCC) and Averett University (AU) are collaborating to provide an inspiring path for instructional paraprofessionals to fulfill their aspirations in the field of Education. This collaborative endeavor allows students to complete the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Early Childhood Education at DCC and then seamlessly transition to Averett University to earn their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and teaching license. The program is designed to prepare educators for the diverse needs of children in Virginia's public school system and is open to paraprofessionals employed in any Virginia public school.
DCC Hosts 2nd Annual CyberKnight Showdown Cybersecurity Competition
Danville Community College (DCC) hosted its 2nd Annual ‘CyberKnight Showdown’, a regional cybersecurity competition, on October 6, 2023 on the DCC Campus for local high school students who are pursuing an education in cybersecurity and information technology.
