On June 26, Danville Community College (DCC) had the privilege of hosting Ms. Terri Thompson, Vice Chair of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) State Board. Ms. Thompson's visit was a testament to DCC's commitment to providing quality education and strengthening community partnerships. Throughout her visit, she engaged in a series of events that highlighted the college's achievements and its dedication to in-demand educational programs.

On Monday, June 26, Mr. Carlyle Wimbish, Danville Community College Advisory Board member and past board chair, received a touching, heartfelt surprise from his two sons, Randy and Robert, with a little help from the Danville Community College Educational Foundation.  

Christopher Buchinsky, a high-ranking student at George Washington High School and former Governor's School attendee, is embarking on a unique educational journey by choosing Danville Community College (DCC) as his next step. Despite his impressive academic achievements, Christopher's decision to pursue a community college experience demonstrates a thoughtful approach to finding his true passion and career path.

Matthew David Scearce, an exceptional student and the salutatorian of Chatham High School’s graduating class, has made a decision that sets him apart from his peers. Rather than following the traditional path of attending a four-year university, Matthew has chosen to enroll at Danville Community College (DCC) in pursuit of a career in precision machining.

As I reflect on the culmination of the 2022-2023 academic year, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for the remarkable journey Danville Community College has embarked upon in my first year.  

On May 22, the DCC Scholarship Committee convened to award more than $100,000 in DCC Educational Foundation scholarships to students attending Danville Community College in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Dr. Jerry Wallace, President of Danville Community College (DCC), has been honored with the Young Professionals PACE Award by the Danville/Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce. This recognition celebrates exceptional young professionals in Danville and Pittsylvania County who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and made significant contributions to the community.

In accordance with Section 23.1-307 (D) of the Code of Virginia, the State Board for Community Colleges provides notice that it will consider tuition and mandatory fee increases for Virginia’s Community Colleges, effective fall 2023, at 9 a.m. on July 20, 2023, at the Virginia Community College System, System Office, 300 Arboretum Place, Richmond, VA 23236.

210 Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Halifax County residents were recently named to the Danville Community College President’s Honors List for the Spring 2023 semester. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled for six or more credit hours in the spring semester, have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0, have a semester GPA of 3.75 or higher, and have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours at the college.
