DCC Nursing Program Presents Student First Ever ‘DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students’
On May 12, Danville Community College hosted its annual Nursing Graduate Pinning Ceremony. During the ceremony which recognizes graduates of the DCC Nursing Program for their dedication and hard work, nursing faculty presented a student with the first ever ‘DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students’ to Kaitlin Oldham.

DCC Nursing Program Information Session Draws Students and Community
DCC hosted a Nursing Program Information Session on October 19 that drew many interested students and community members, both in-person and virtually via Zoom. Attendees were presented with a variety of information addressing the nursing program application process, program requirements, and what to expect.

DCC and the new Director of Nursing, Dr. James Emerson, have been working diligently to prepare its current cohort of nursing students for the industry of health care and nursing. During the 2021 summer semester, five new faculty members were added to the Nursing team.

DCC alumna Whitney Harrell recently earned a doctoral degree, following her graduation from DCC’s first registered nursing class in 2011.

DCC Nursing Program Ranked First in State, One of the Best in Nation
The nursing program at Danville Community College (DCC) has been named number one in the Commonwealth of Virginia and one of the best nursing schools in the nation by RNCareers.org. This marks the second time this year that the college’s nursing program has been recognized as first in the state.
