The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students in order to help them afford College. In the FWS program, students whose Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) qualify them for FWS are awarded an allotment of funds which may be earned through part-time employment in FWS-approved positions either on- or off-campus. FWS jobs are designed to be flexible around students’ class schedules. If you wish to be considered for the FWS program, you must indicate this preference on your FAFSA and submit a work-study application to the Financial Aid Office.
To apply for a Federal Work-Study job, students must meet basic eligibility criteria as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the following steps:
- Submit a work-study application to the Financial Aid Office.
- If a position is available, you will be contacted by the Financial Aid Office and an interview will be scheduled.
- If you are offered a position, you will be referred back to the Financial Aid Office to receive the remaining “new hire” documentation including the Criminal History Record Name Search Request Form, along with the Federal Work-Study Student Handbook.
The Financial Aid Office will notify you when the criminal history search is completed and clear and you can begin employment. At this time, you will set-up a schedule of employment with your supervisor. Review the Federal Work-Study Student Handbook for additional information regarding the Federal Work-Study program.
