In response to regional needs and the national shortage of CDL-licensed truck drivers, Danville Community College (DCC), in partnership with Ancora Education, is officially launching a CDL Training Program on March 6.

On March 13, 2023, Danville Community College (DCC) will begin their second 8-week course offerings for students who wish to complete their courses faster, or for those who may have missed the January deadline for 16-week spring semester classes. 

Students who are looking to reduce their out-of-pocket cost for tuition at Danville Community College (DCC) are in luck! The Danville Community College Educational Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications from new and currently enrolled students in need of financial assistance.

This week, Danville Community College (DCC) welcomed their new Vice President of Workforce Services, Mark Funkey.

Born in Nebraska and raised in New Mexico, Mark Funkey obtained his Bachelor of Science from Bellevue University in 2003; his Master of Arts in Management from Doane University in 2013; and he expects to graduate with a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Doane University in May of this year.

Hitachi Energy, in partnership with Danville Community College (DCC) and the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC), held a completion ceremony on January 23 for 19 employees who participated in Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Training as part of their on-going professional development.

On January 23, 2023, Danville Community College (DCC) will launch a brand new, 16-week cybersecurity training to provide students with foundational skills to begin their careers. Offered via a hybrid format (50% online course work, 50% hands-on, in-person training), the training curriculum is a customized blend of IT certifications and cybersecurity fundamentals, including the basic knowledge required for COMPTIA-A+, COMPTIA Network+, and COMPTIA Security+.

Danville Community College has partnered with TimelyMD, the leading virtual health and well-being solution in higher education, to offer students free and equitable access to mental health and basic needs support.

Danville Community College Educational Foundation (DCCEF) Executive Director and Danville Community College (DCC) Institutional Advancement Vice President Shannon Hair has successfully completed the Virginia Rural Leadership Institute (VRLI) in the inaugural graduating class.

Danville Community College, in partnership with the Danville Area Training Center (DATC), will begin offering an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program to the community, in addition to its standard EMT Program offerings.
